HARRIS, THOMAS B. SCOTT, AND SAMUEL L. TAYLOR AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, STORM WATER DIVISION, CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TO DO SPECIAL DUTY AS PRESCRIBED HEREIN, SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Carl Wayne Boyd, Billy Caylor, Jerry D. Fritz, John D. Gibson, Ray S. Harrington, Charles E. Harris, Thomas B. Scott, and Samuel L. Taylor be and are hereby appointed as special police officers for the Public Works Department, Storm Water Division, City of Chattanooga, subject to certain conditions and restrictions: 1. That said special police officers shall have, possess and exercise every power granted by the statutes of the State of Tennessee or the City of Chattanooga to regular police officers of the City of Chattanooga necessary in the performance of their duties, except they shall not be allowed to carry a firearm. Such powers and performance of duties by said special police officers are expressly limited to the performance of duties in their respective positions in the Public Works Department, Storm Water Division, City of Chattanooga. 0C 2. That said special police officers shall not be considered employees of the Department of Safety, nor shall they be entitled to any benefits afforded regular police officers of the City, and shall in all respects be considered employees of the Public Works Department, Storm Water Division, City of Chattanooga. 3. That such appointments shall expire upon termination of said special police officers' employment by the City of Chattanooga. Notwithstanding any other provision herein, the City Council of the City of Chattanooga shall have the right to cancel such appointments at any time. ADOPTED: December 9, 1997 :cjc
